Описание:	The House is an 800 year old Tuscan farm-house nestled in the Medieval village of Codiponte in the Lunigiana. Il Poggiolo. means balcony in Italian. and is the name the locals gave to the house & once-upon-a-time vineyard because. it stuck out like a balcony from the part of the village built up around the Castle of Codiponte above. In fact. part of the base of the old castle perimeter walls now make up the rampart walls forming the coutryard of Il Poggiolo. At some point in the house s history. the facade & interiors of the main house were altered to eventually become a residence for the farm-house. Probably. the original living quarters on the Second Floor. now L Appartamento Azzurro and reached by an independent entrance above. had become too small. However. in the late 1600s or early 1700s. the decision was made to construct a separate casa padronale in the Medici-style. It is attached at the archway entrance to Il Poggiolo. Il Poggiolo then remained for many years as it was... living quarters on the Second Floor. hay barns. storage & wine making rooms on the First and the animals in stalls on the Ground Floor.
